340. Together We Are The Water In A Lake,

And the stones on the bank around us,

Are all the fights, lies, and fakes,

That we could both partake,

I’ll begin by skipping one stone,

And you’ll skip another,

Each splash a shock, a knock, a dent

In our relationship,

Gradually travelling further into the distance,

Each splash decreasing in size – like our effort,

To stay above the water,

And prevent us from drowning under.

But it’s too late,

The stones are too heavy,

They sink to the bottom of us,

Becoming part of our foundations,

The ground we stand upon…

And when others dive into us,

We’ll get everything wet, starting with the skin beneath our eyes,

But,

Let them swim and watch,

As they leave us,

And when they’re done,

We’ll be still again, silent, calm, resting on these stones…

Anyways, I guess what I’m trying to say is,

Without these stones, where would we be?

Somewhere in the ground, somewhere in the clouds?…

I’d rather be the water in this lake,

With a thousand stones about us,

So long as you to wish too
